Making domestic life look soooo good....

July 1st

After just two days of climbing Paul and I are taking another rest day... getting into climbing shape is hard work! We took a whirl at some of the multipitch routes on the chief these last few days and had a few epic days. We started with "Calculus Crack"; an awesome fist to finger sized crack that splits the far left side of the Apron (low angle climbing area) for 3 pitches (with 2 approach pitches). What a great climb that was! Super fun, great protection and an awesome learning to crack climb experience. Yesterday we did our own variation on "The Smoke Bluff Connector" which involved linking up several single pitch routes up the tiered Smoke Bluff climbing area. Another super fun day.

The weather is a bit damp in general; raining mostly at night and clearing up in the afternoons. Today we are not so lucky though, a general misty drizzle is keeping even the boulders hiding in their tents. So many of us retreated to the local pool for a splash and needed soak in the hot tub. Loving life as always.
The Chief looking pretty soggy

Paul climbing "Phemlish Dance" (pitch 2 of the Smoke Bluff Connector)

Shy topping out on "Pixie Corner"

Paul doing a wicked lead on "Jabberwocky"

Shy's Super Stoked on leading sweet crack climbs.

  1. You guys are taking some really great photos... You may want to think of making a photo-documentary out of it? even make it into a book sometime for yourselves... Just a thought!

  3. That's a great idea Mike! We are trying to take as many photos as possible and it would be great to put them all together in the end in some way.

Thanks Amy, you could be doing this too! If you want to come out here for a vacation we could go hiking or even do some easy climbing! It would be great to see you!
